~ Join us at our Scholarship Brunch in June! ~

The Jewish Council of Yonkers offers 18 scholarships worth $14,000 to students residing in Yonkers and honors three outstanding educators.

The Jewish Council of Yonkers champions the achievements of our students who become the leaders of our community within a few short years.  Through collaborative efforts, the JCY awards scholarships to Yonkers students who excel academically and/or artistically and to those who have made strong commitments to community service.

On Sunday, June 5, 2005, the JCY will host its 7th Annual Scholarship Brunch at Temple Emanu-El in Yonkers.  Almost $14,000 in awards will be presented to 18 Yonkers students and 3 of our most outstanding educators will be honored.  The JCY will present awards to Beth Quinn (Gorton High School teacher), Dr. Marvin Feldberg (School 22 principal ), and Arline Frey (Lincoln High School teacher).

The public is invited to contact the JCY , (914) 423-5009, to reserve a ticket or for more information.  (Tickets to the brunch are $36.)

Although the guidelines for the majority of the scholarships stipulate that the qualifying students be Yonkers Public School graduates, two new scholarships will be offered this year to Jewish students who live in Yonkers, but attend any public, private or religious school:

  1. The Dr. Beth and Chuck Schorr Lesnick Yonkers Resident Community Service Scholarship for $500 is available to a senior living in Yonkers; and
