Citywide Flag Day Event The Executive Director of the Jewish Council of Yonkers has chaired this event over the past six years. Its objective is to teach elementary school students the meaning of the flag and the important American values that the flag represents. The 2004 theme was “Honor Our Troops.” 5th and 6th grade children wrote letters to troops. 450 people attended the event at the Riverfront Library.
